The 61-year-old entrepreneur, currently holding the 20th position, proudly shared the announcement on his Instagram page, captioning it with a simple “Interesting” and adorned with smiley and dollar emojis.
Forbes revealed that the collective wealth of the 2024 list, featuring 20 billionaires, reached an impressive $82.4 billion, a slight increase from the previous year’s $81.5 billion, partly attributed to Otedola’s return.
Prior to this, Otedola last graced the prestigious list in 2017 but has now made a striking comeback, securing the 20th spot with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
As the executive chairman of Geregu Power Plc and a former CEO of Forte Oil, Otedola’s business interests span across the energy, power generation, real estate, and shipping sectors.
Despite facing tough competition from multinational oil firms, his company has consistently maintained a significant role in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The Forbes Africa Billionaires list features other notable Nigerian magnates, with Aliko Dangote leading as Africa’s richest billionaire with a staggering net worth of $13.1 billion.
Mike Adenuga, the owner of Globacom and various other enterprises, secures the fifth position on the list with a formidable net worth of $6.9 billion. Otedola’s return marks a resurgence in his business fortunes, showcasing his resilience and success in the competitive world of African business.
