Otti Vows to Reevaluate Abia Pensioners’ Complaints

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced that he will revisit the agreement previously signed between the State government and the leadership of the Abia State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) concerning the accumulated pension arrears from past administrations. Governor Otti clarified that his administration did not coerce the Nigeria Union of Pensioners leadership into signing the agreement, contrary to claims made by some pension leaders. He emphasized that his administration had spent N10 billion to pay pensions inherited from previous governments. He expressed surprise that the same pensioners, who had received payments from the past, allowed those responsible for their arrears to speak on their behalf against his administration.

Despite this, the Governor assured the Chaplain that, based on the recent concerns raised, he would review the matter again. He also thanked God for Senator Adighije’s long life, describing him as a good man.
