According to Ireporter Online, digital content creator Papaya Ex has officially entered Nollywood, starring in her debut film, The Night Market, which is now available for streaming on YouTube. She credited her fans for her rise and the visibility of her projects, highlighting their role in supporting her creative journey.

The Night Market features an ensemble cast including Tony Umeh, Tina Mba, Chidi Dike, Sydney Talker, Sexy Steel, Chichi (BBN), MC Lively, Pinki Debbie, James Brown, Hermes, Akeem Ogara, and Rosemary Afuwape. For Papaya Ex, the film represents a significant milestone in her evolving career in entertainment.

Reflecting on her passion for acting, Papaya Ex revealed that her interest had been quietly developing over several years. “Honestly, acting has been something I’ve wanted for a long time. I just kept it to myself because I didn’t want to rush it,” she explained. She added that positive audience reactions to her online skits encouraged her to explore acting more seriously.

The turning point, she said, occurred during her first professional film shoot. “The day I stepped on a real set and felt completely at home, I knew this was truly in me,” she recalled. Transitioning from fast-paced online content to in-depth acting has challenged and expanded her creativity, she noted.

“Content creation is quick — you get an idea, film it, move on. Acting is deeper. You have to understand the character, feel their emotions, and carry their story,” Papaya Ex explained. She said this process has allowed her to slow down, connect more deeply, and discover new creative potential.

Papaya Ex expressed a particular interest in emotionally rich and culturally significant stories. “I love roles that carry emotion, culture, and mystery — stories that resonate with people. Characters that challenge me and push me to grow excite me the most,” she said.

Acknowledging the role of her online community, she said, “The support from my fans is real — they share my work, hype it, and give it life. It helps my projects grow faster, and I don’t take that for granted.”

Responding to critics who claim influencers often bypass traditional acting routes, Papaya Ex emphasized her dedication to the craft. “People will always talk, but I’m putting in the work. I’m learning, training, and taking this seriously. I didn’t come into acting for fame; I did it because I love it,” she said.

She also highlighted the sacrifices involved in pursuing acting. “It takes time, energy, emotions, and sometimes even your peace. You give up comfort and push yourself in unexpected ways. But despite the fear, it’s worth it because the dream means so much to me,” Papaya Ex concluded.
