Philippine School Sh**ting leaves Three k!lled
Three people have been killed and five others injured in a rare school shooting incident in central Philippines on Monday, authorities have confirmed.
According to Ireporter Online, the attack occurred around 9:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Leyte province. Police said the motive behind the shooting remains unknown as investigations continue.
Regional police confirmed that the victims were quickly rushed to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment and medical attention following the incident.
Government broadcaster PTV reported that two suspects, both believed to be students, have been arrested in connection with the shooting, with one apprehended at the scene. Presidential spokesperson Claire Castro also stated that security operatives acted swiftly, noting that the suspects have already been taken into custody.
While school shootings remain uncommon in the Philippines, the country has continued to grapple with sporadic gun violence, often linked to local political and personal disputes. In a similar past incident in 2022, three people, including a former city mayor, were killed in a shooting at Ateneo de Manila University shortly before a graduation ceremony, later ruled to be motivated by personal reasons.
Authorities say investigations into the latest attack are ongoing.
