The arrests, made on Wednesday, stem from an altercation that transpired a week before at a private hostel situated off the university premises.

As per reports from Vanguard, the conflict arose when the deceased student was discovered filming the four suspects without their consent.

Allegedly, the victim was recording a private conversation among the students when he was noticed by one of them.

Upon being questioned about his actions, the student purportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, provoking the ire of the group.

Subsequently, the situation escalated, culminating in the four students assaulting him, resulting in injuries that led to his demise.

A student, speaking anonymously, stated, “the victim later succumbed to the severity of the beating inflicted on him by the students.”

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), affirmed that “The alleged culprits were four, but I cannot confirm their names now. They have been arrested while an investigation is still ongoing over the matter.”
