The command expressed sorrow over the loss of Inspector Baba, acknowledging him as a brave individual who met his demise while faithfully performing his duty. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the perpetrators managed to escape, leaving behind their vehicle, which was subsequently recovered.

In the wake of this incident, the tragic reality of law enforcement work was underscored, with the command lamenting the uncertainty officers face each day as they leave their homes, never guaranteed of their safe return.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has voiced skepticism regarding the readiness of Nigeria to implement state police. Speaking at a dialogue on state policing, the IGP, represented by AIG Ben Okolo, cited concerns about potential abuse of power by state governors, which could compromise human rights and lead to political manipulation. Additionally, financial constraints were highlighted as a significant obstacle to establishing state police, as the government may lack the necessary funds for such an endeavor.
