for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP). The group has voiced their concerns over being excluded from the meeting, which they have labeled as “clandestine.”

In a statement signed by its three factional presidents—Prince Nuyete Biira, Fegalo Nsuke, and Engr. Olu Andah Wai-Ogosu—MOSOP expressed disappointment over the lack of prior consultation. The group emphasized that such a meeting could undermine the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts in the region.

While MOSOP has stated that they are not opposed to the resumption of oil activities in Ogoni, they stressed the importance of proper inclusivity and consultation before making any decisions. They noted that they only learned about the meeting through media reports, which was surprising given the significant role MOSOP plays in the region’s affairs.

MOSOP also highlighted its efforts in fostering peace and unity, particularly following the successful Ogoni Day celebration on January 4, 2025. The group warned that excluding MOSOP from discussions could jeopardize these achievements, potentially hindering the support of the Ogoni people for oil resumption.

The factional presidents further called for all parties involved to work together towards a peaceful and mutually beneficial resolution to the ongoing issues surrounding oil resumption in Ogoni land.

They urged the Ogoni people to remain calm and peaceful while MOSOP continues its efforts to address the situation through dialogue and cooperation. MOSOP also expressed concerns that the meeting’s outcome could provoke unrest in the region and disrupt the gains made in the peace process.
