According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian internationals Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze were instrumental as Fulham secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in a tightly contested Premier League encounter at Craven Cottage on April 25.

The breakthrough came just before the interval when Ryan Sessegnon reacted quickest to a loose ball after Raul Jimenez’s header was parried into his path, calmly converting to give the hosts the decisive advantage. Bassey delivered a commanding performance at the heart of Fulham’s defence, completing the full 90 minutes and providing stability and leadership throughout the game. The centre-back has now featured 25 league matches this season, scoring once and further establishing himself as a key figure in the squad.

Chukwueze also impressed from the start, contributing an energetic display before being substituted late on for Oscar Bobb. The winger now has three goals and four assists in 19 league appearances this campaign. Fulham thought they had doubled their lead through Timothy Castagne, but the effort was disallowed following a foul on goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. Aston Villa, observed by England manager Thomas Tuchel, struggled to impose themselves, with missed opportunities from Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers as Unai Emery’s side appeared below their best ahead of their European commitments. The result briefly lifts Fulham into contention for European qualification, leaving them level with the final qualifying spot and just two points behind sixth-placed Brighton.
