Presidency Says Tinubu Monitoring Rescue Efforts For Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers

According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, refuted the claims in a statement shared on his account on Tuesday. He stated that President Bola Tinubu had already issued a public statement regarding the incident and has continued to receive regular updates on ongoing rescue efforts.

The clarification followed accusations from an user identified as Thepentane_, who claimed that eleven days after the kidnapping incident in Oyo State, the President had remained silent.

Responding to the criticism, Olusegun cautioned against spreading misinformation, noting that while public frustration over the abduction was understandable, false narratives should be avoided. He maintained that the President had been consistently briefed on the rescue operation since the incident began.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the gunmen responsible for abducting students and teachers in the Ahoro Esinele community of Oriire Local Government Area have allegedly opened communication with the state government and demanded ransom for the victims’ release.

The attackers reportedly kidnapped 39 students and seven teachers during the invasion, while a teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun was said to have lost his life in the attack.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed that indirect negotiations are currently ongoing between the parties involved, although the exact ransom amount being demanded has not been made public. Multiple insiders also revealed that discussions surrounding the victims’ release are being handled discreetly by authorities.
