President Buhari Orders For Five More Agricultural Spraying Aircraft

Paul Ikonne, the NALDA’s executive secretary, has been ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari to purchase five more agricultural spraying aircraft so that the nation’s six geopolitical zones are covered.

The president issued the order during the official unveiling of cutting-edge machinery that the federal government had acquired to aid in boosting the nation’s food output.

Since the devastating floods of 2022, there have been worries that Nigeria will face a food crisis if nothing is done to prevent it. The United Nations food and agriculture organisation (FAO) had in its October food and nutrition analysis Known as the Cadre Harmonisé report, indicated that about 17 million people, in 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory are in a food crisis or worse through October 2022 and the number was expected to increase to 25.3 million people between June and August 2023.

One of the federal government’s interventions is the introduction of this cutting-edge machinery for greater food production.Paul Ikonne, the NALDA’s executive secretary, gave a summary of the organization’s successes during its two-year resurrection.

Tractors, combined harvesters, pumping devices, monitoring and spraying drones, cages for raising chickens and rabbits, among other items, were also purchased.

Additionally, the agency was instructed to continue buying land preparation tools until the nation had enough for food security.
