Saliu Mustapha Rallies Support for Gender-Inclusive, Climate-Smart Agriculture Financing — Champions Food Security for Nigeria
In yet another bold move toward sustainable development, the distinguished Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive agricultural policies that secure Nigeria’s future.
Senator Mustapha was in attendance at a high-level One-Day Climate-Smart and Gender-Inclusive Financing Validation Workshop held recently in Abuja. The event, organized by the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), brought together key stakeholders focused on revolutionizing the agricultural sector through climate-responsive and gender-sensitive financial solutions.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Senator Mustapha emphasized that empowering women farmers and addressing climate realities are no longer optional — they are essential pillars in safeguarding Nigeria’s food systems and building resilience against future shocks.
“This workshop is a vital step toward strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector by promoting inclusive financing solutions that address climate challenges and empower women farmers,” the lawmaker stated.
With climate change increasingly disrupting agricultural productivity and food availability across Africa, the validation of financing models that are both gender-inclusive and climate-smart is timely. Senator Mustapha’s participation reinforces the Senate’s legislative commitment to adopting forward-thinking strategies in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Observers note that under Senator Mustapha’s leadership, the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development has remained a vocal advocate for expanding agricultural financing, bridging gender gaps in farming, and integrating climate action into national policy frameworks.
As Nigeria races toward economic diversification and enhanced food security, champions like Senator Mustapha are ensuring that no farmer—especially women—is left behind.
The future of agriculture is green, inclusive, and resilient — and Kwara Central’s voice is leading the charge.
