Saudi Arabia Suspends Visa Issuance For 14 Countries, Including Nigeria And Egypt, Ahead Of Hajj
Saudi Arabia has announced a temporary suspension of certain visa categories for citizens from 14 countries, including Nigeria, Egypt, India, and Pakistan, as part of new travel restrictions in preparation for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
Reports indicate that the Saudi authorities will cease issuing Umrah, family visit, and business visas for individuals from the affected countries starting in April 2025. This suspension is expected to remain in place until June, following the conclusion of the Hajj season…READ MORE…
Officials emphasized that this suspension will not impact pilgrims who are properly registered for Hajj. Nigerians and others planning to undertake the religious pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah through official Hajj channels will still be permitted entry into the Kingdom.
The restrictions are designed to address the growing issue of unauthorized individuals using Umrah or visit visas to join the Hajj without proper registration, which has led to overcrowding and logistical challenges. This move follows concerns about illegal overstays and uncontrolled pilgrim movements, especially after the tragic incidents during the 2024 Hajj that resulted in numerous fatalities due to overcrowding and extreme heat.
Beginning April 13, the issuance of visit visas for the affected countries will be halted as part of this initiative, permitting entry only to those with confirmed Hajj registrations through designated authorities.
Countries Affected by the Visa Suspension:
- India
- Egypt
- Pakistan
- Indonesia
- Iraq
- Nigeria
- Sudan
- Jordan
- Ethiopia
- Tunisia
- Yemen
- Algeria
- Bangladesh
- Morocco
