The highly contested Kogi State Governorship Election held on November 11, 2023, has concluded with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Usman Ododo, emerging as the victorious candidate to secure the coveted seat.

The State Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, officially declared Ododo as the winner at 10:23 pm on Sunday.

Ododo secured victory with 446,237 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who garnered 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed with 46,362 votes.

Results from all 21 local government areas (LGAs) in the state were collated late Sunday, with the APC candidate prevailing in more than half of the LGAs.

Ododo, a former Auditor General of Local Government in Kogi under Governor Yahaya Bello, had the endorsement of the governor concluding his two consecutive terms of eight years.
