See What Marafa Said About Same Faith Ticket

Senator Kabiru Marafa, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has argued that there is nothing wrong with a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket, calling the entire issue hypocritical.

Marafa told journalists after a consultation meeting with various groups in Gusau, the state capital, that the party was committed to victory in the 2023 general elections.

He claims that the APC consistently encourages peace and member unity. Because the nation is not controlled by religious ideas, he warned Nigerians not to be misled.

“Nobody should deceive us, Nigeria is not governed in the line of religion. There are 18 political parties in Nigeria,” he said.

“If one party says they are doing Christian-Christian ticket and another one says ‘Muslim-Muslim ticket,’ leave the one that is doing the one you don’t like and go to the other one you like. What is the big deal?”

Marafa assured Nigerians that the Zamfara electorate would deliver more than the 25 per cent required votes to the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima in the state

The North-West Region, according to the former senator for Zamfara Central, remained the political party’s best chance of winning the national election.

Marafa’s opinions on same-faith tickets are similar to those of other religious authorities, including His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the retired archbishop of Abuja.

In October, the bishop referred to the Muslim-Muslim APC ticket as a political choice made by the party in an effort to win the 2023 election.

He claims that the choice is not a rigid norm that all Nigerians must follow by and that, as a result, the populace has the right to choose the voting process and the candidate they want to lead the country in 2023.

He stressed that the Catholic Church would not give anyone specific instructions on which political party to support and said that every Christian, like other Nigerians, would have to make their own decision regarding which political party to vote for.
