Senator Natasha Defies Kogi Government: No One Can Stop Me From Coming Home

“No one and nothing can stop me from coming home. I am an Ebira woman; this is my land. I am the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know where I come from, and I am not intimidated by anyone.”

Her statement came in the wake of the Kogi State Government’s decision to ban rallies and public gatherings across the state ahead of her planned homecoming, citing security concerns. The government also prohibited fishing activities following incidents that led to the loss of two lives in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, all in Kogi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi West.

Additionally, the Kogi State Police Command issued security alerts advising the suspended lawmaker to reconsider the planned rally. Furthermore, Amoka Monday, Chairman of Okehi LGA, imposed a curfew in the area.

Despite these measures to curb large gatherings, Senator Natasha was warmly received by hundreds of supporters upon her arrival in her hometown.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate followed a clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment. The Senate subsequently suspended her for six months, citing misconduct during plenary.
