Senator Saliu Mustapha Joins Senate President Akpabio in Morocco for Historic Parliamentary Pact
Rabat, Morocco – April 30, 2025
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, joined the President of the Nigerian Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other key lawmakers in Morocco for the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on parliamentary cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The agreement, signed by Senate President Akpabio and the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors, H.E. Mohamed Ould Errachid, marks a new chapter in inter-parliamentary diplomacy and legislative synergy between the two nations.
Speaking from Morocco, Senator Mustapha described the development as a “bold and strategic alliance” that reinforces Nigeria’s commitment to regional collaboration, institutional capacity-building, and shared legislative progress.
“This MoU is more than a diplomatic gesture,” Senator Mustapha stated. “It’s a gateway to knowledge exchange, mutual development, and cross-border unity in addressing global challenges.”
As an active voice in Nigeria’s 10th Senate, Senator Mustapha’s presence underscores his commitment to positioning the legislature as a global actor in democratic advancement and diplomatic engagement.
The MoU lays the foundation for enhanced legislative cooperation, bilateral training programs, policy dialogue, and collaborative responses to emerging socio-economic issues — especially within the African context.
With Senator Saliu Mustapha’s participation, the Nigerian delegation demonstrated a unified resolve to strengthen the National Assembly’s global partnerships and harness inter-parliamentary collaboration as a tool for national development.
