As Obaseki’s tenure officially ended on Monday, November 11, 2024, and he is set to hand over to Okpebholo today, speculation emerged that Obaseki had gone into hiding to avoid possible arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). However, Obaseki’s team has denied these claims.

Shaibu, in an interview on Channels Television, shared that he has not seen the outgoing governor for several days, stating, “The governor and I have been a bit distant… I haven’t seen him in the last four days. He hasn’t communicated with me, and we don’t speak to each other.”
