Sodiq Adebayo Reveals How Oga Bello Pushed Him Into Production Management

Popular Nollywood production manager Sodiq Adebayo has revealed how a conversation with his father, veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, inspired him to pursue a career in film production management.

In an interview with Nollywood on Radio, Adebayo recounted a pivotal moment during a trip to Ilorin with his father and the late Alhaji Rasheed. He asked his father which role in film production he found most challenging. Salami reportedly replied that directing was difficult due to its technical demands. When Adebayo suggested production management, his father expressed doubt that he could handle it. Alhaji Rasheed, however, encouraged him, assuring that guidance would be provided.

“That conversation stayed with me because I wanted to prove I could do it,” Adebayo explained. “I met with Lasun Ray Eyiwunmi and also consulted my brother, Femi, learning everything I could about production management. For me, it was about passion, not money.”

Adebayo, who initially explored acting, described himself as naturally shy and always inclined toward behind-the-scenes work rather than performing on screen, despite being the son of a prominent actor.
