Sokoto Government Urges Against Traditional Treatments For Metal Poisoning
The Sokoto State Government has raised concerns about the use of unsafe traditional practices for treating metal poisoning. During the distribution of government-supplied drugs for metal poisoning treatment at the General Hospital in Tureta, Dr. Wurno emphasized that individuals showing symptoms of metal poisoning should seek medical treatment at hospitals rather than relying on potentially harmful traditional methods.
“The practice of making incisions on the stomach of metal poisoning patients must be stopped immediately. Instead, individuals displaying symptoms should be promptly taken to hospitals for proper care,” he stated.
Dr. Wurno, represented by Dr. Bello Attahiru, Executive Director of the State Hospital Services Management Board, reassured the public that essential medications would be provided to all general hospitals managing cases of metal poisoning.
Alhaji Aliyu Tureta, Chairman of the Tureta Local Government Council, expressed appreciation for the timely provision of the drugs, assuring the government that the medicines would be used appropriately for their intended purpose.
