According to Ireporter Online, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, stating that he is now facing the same justice system he once defended while in government.

Sowore made the remarks on Monday during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he reflected on Malami’s tenure under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He accused the former AGF of previously boasting about the strength of the justice system during his time in office, noting that the system is now turning against him. “You see how it feels now to be persecuted. When you were with Buhari, you were bragging. We warned you then that there was failure in the justice system, but you didn’t listen, and now the system is dealing with you,” he said.

Sowore further stressed his view that the justice system remains fundamentally flawed, insisting, “There is failure in the system. The system is dealing with you now.”

In a symbolic gesture during the courtroom exchange, Sowore offered Malami a cap, describing it as a “revolutionary cap,” while also acknowledging his composure, saying, “At least I’m glad that you are strong.”

He extended his criticism beyond Malami, arguing that systemic failures affect both political actors and critics alike. “We are not all on the same side… even the oppressors are oppressing you now. As far as the Nigerian project is concerned, no matter how powerful you people are, we will never support you. We are resilient till tomorrow,” he added.
