According to Ireporter Online, Ikeja Electric has reinforced its commitment to community welfare and public health through targeted Corporate Social Responsibility interventions carried out in Abule-Egba and Odogunyan communities in Lagos State, as part of activities marking the 2026 World Malaria Day.

The outreach, themed “Driven to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must,” was designed to strengthen awareness and improve access to basic healthcare services among residents. Community members benefited from free malaria testing and treatment, alongside the distribution of antimalarial drugs, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and informational materials aimed at sustaining preventive practices.

Residents were also sensitised on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of malaria. Health educators at the programme further emphasised practical measures such as the consistent use of treated mosquito nets, improved environmental sanitation, and the importance of seeking prompt medical attention at the onset of symptoms.

Speaking on the initiative, the Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric Plc, Kingsley Okotie, noted that the company’s responsibility extends beyond electricity supply, stressing its continued focus on improving the quality of life in host communities. He explained that the malaria outreach reflects ongoing efforts to equip residents with the knowledge and tools required to prevent and manage the disease effectively.

He further highlighted the importance of sustained awareness campaigns and collaborative efforts in reducing malaria prevalence, adding that the company remains committed to supporting initiatives that drive positive health outcomes across its coverage areas.

Okotie also urged residents to maintain safety consciousness during the rainy season, warning against exposure to electrical hazards such as fallen wires, flooded installations, and damaged infrastructure. He encouraged prompt reporting of safety concerns through designated emergency channels.

Reaffirming its broader commitment, Ikeja Electric stated its focus on delivering reliable electricity supply while deepening stakeholder engagement and implementing impactful CSR programmes aimed at enhancing community well-being.
