Boavista, where Onyemaechi made 77 appearances, scored five goals, and provided three assists. The statement also noted his contributions this season, which include three goals and one assist in 18 matches.

Onyemaechi, 25, is known for his versatility, excelling as both a wing-back and a midfielder. He signed a four-year contract with Olympiacos for a reported transfer fee of €2.5 million, beating out competition from Benfica and Fenerbahce for his signature.

Having joined Boavista in 2023 after stints with Feirense and a loan spell at Vila Real, Onyemaechi has made significant strides in his career. He earned his Super Eagles debut in 2023 during a dominant 6-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe and has since gained 11 caps for Nigeria. He was also part of the squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Nigeria finished as runners-up.
