Super Eagles Touch Down In Morocco In Grand Style Ahead Of AFCON 2025

The Nigerian delegation travelled into Morocco from Egypt, where the team had been camped in Cairo following an international friendly against the Egyptian national side earlier in the week. With that encounter concluded, full focus has now shifted to the continent’s biggest football tournament scheduled to take place in North Africa.

On arrival, the players and technical crew made a striking cultural impression, stepping out in matching deep green traditional attire. The outfits featured short-sleeved tunics detailed with fine embroidery and paired with well-tailored trousers, reflecting a blend of elegance and national pride. Completing the look were native caps made from the same fabric, while footwear varied from classic leather slip-ons to casual trainers.

Confirming the team’s arrival, Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, disclosed that the squad had safely landed in Fes, Morocco.

Nigeria joins a growing list of African nations already present in the host country. Teams such as South Africa, Comoros, Mali and Zimbabwe arrived earlier, while Benin Republic and Senegal have also checked in as anticipation for the tournament continues to build.

Drawn in Group C, the Super Eagles will battle Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda in the group stage. The three-time African champions are widely tipped as strong contenders, having narrowly missed out on the title at the previous edition after a 2–1 defeat to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final.

The mission in Morocco is clear as Nigeria begins its AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania on December 23 at the Fez Stadium. A high-profile clash with Tunisia follows on December 26, before the group stage concludes with a showdown against Uganda on December 30.

At the end of the group phase, the top two teams from each group will advance automatically to the round of 16, alongside four of the best third-placed teams, setting the stage for an intense knockout battle.
