The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially addressed the recent incident involving renowned Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident unfolded on Tuesday when the musician was reportedly removed from a ValueJet aircraft after failing to comply with established aviation safety protocols.

FAAN, in a statement released by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, confirmed that the passenger attempted to board with a liquid substance in a flask, in violation of international aviation rules which prohibit carrying liquids exceeding 100ml without proper declaration for medical use.

The statement noted that both Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain advised the passenger against boarding with the item. However, he allegedly refused to comply.

According to Ireporter Online, tensions escalated when the passenger allegedly spilled the contents of the flask—later confirmed to be alcohol—on an airline security officer. Despite the flight captain’s intervention, the musician reportedly continued to resist instructions.

Following the completion of boarding, the captain ordered the aircraft door closed.

It was at this point, FAAN stated, that the passenger moved to the front of the plane and refused to vacate the area, prompting AVSEC’s crime unit to escort him off the aircraft for further investigation. He was subsequently released.

FAAN reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and decorum at all Nigerian airports, regardless of status or celebrity.
