Terror Behind the Counter: Gusau Restaurant Worker Confesses to Aiding Kidnappers

A wave of panic has swept through Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, after a viral video surfaced showing a restaurant worker allegedly confessing to collaborating with a notorious kidnapping ring.

According to reports circulating on iReporter Online, the individual—an employee of Yan Doto Food Palace, a popular eatery located near the Zamfara Government House—was captured in the video admitting to assisting kidnappers linked to recent abductions in the Mareri area.

The footage, which quickly gained traction across various social media platforms, has sparked widespread fear and outrage among residents. Civil society groups and youth organizations have since voiced deep concern over the security implications of the revelation.

Reacting to the incident, the Zamfara State Youth Association issued a formal statement on Monday, denouncing the situation and demanding swift action. The association’s president, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba, described the confession as alarming and a direct threat to public safety, especially given the strategic location of the restaurant.

“This development is deeply troubling,” Abba said. “It raises serious questions about how such activities could take place so close to the seat of government without detection.”

He further called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch a comprehensive investigation into the matter, including probing potential safe houses and networks that may be sheltering criminal collaborators across the state.

Abba also urged the public to exercise increased vigilance, warning that criminals could be disguising themselves as everyday workers in public spaces.
