“I feel right at home in Enugu. It brings me great joy to be here, and I’m relaxed among you all,” Tinubu shared. “This visit signifies a homecoming for me and illustrates our potential for collaboration and what we can achieve together.”
He emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious differences, in order to create a Nigeria that fulfills the aspirations of both the present and future generations.
Tinubu praised Governor Peter Mbah for his remarkable initiatives aimed at advancing Enugu State. He called for more leaders from the private sector to enter politics to leverage their expertise for public service.
The President commended Mbah for developing significant security infrastructure that promotes investment and socio-economic growth, stating, “With dedicated leaders like Mbah steering Enugu toward 21st-century development, we are laying the groundwork for our future.”
He recalled meeting local children at a modern school, highlighting the administration’s investment in security measures that will accelerate development. “I noticed the vehicles and technologies in place; it’s evident you’re planning for today and securing the future of Enugu.”
Tinubu acknowledged Mbah’s leadership, expressing confidence in their collective potential to foster harmony and build a brighter Nigeria together.
Mbah, in turn, outlined his administration’s extensive investments in security, education, and infrastructure to position Enugu as a premier destination for business and tourism, aiming to increase the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion within four to eight years.
He acknowledged the challenges posed by crime, stating, “Untamed criminality stifles dreams and drains life from a city. Recognizing this, we have significantly invested in enhancing security in Enugu State.”
Mbah described the proactive measures in place to prevent crime and ensure a swift response to security breaches. He highlighted an AI-powered security initiative that enables continuous surveillance throughout the state.
Additionally, the President inaugurated several projects, including 30 completed Enugu Smart Green Schools out of 260 planned, a multi-functional Enugu International Conference Centre, and 90 urban roads in the city.
