WAEC Launches Resit Exams For Candidates
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a new program that enables students to retake their WASSCE papers as early as January and February 2025. John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, shared the news during an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana on December 31st. He elaborated that the program, termed WASSCE PC1, offers students a quicker opportunity to enhance their grades.
“Students who check their results and find that they need to retake one or two papers can register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés by January 8th. The exams are scheduled from January 24th to February 15th, 2025,” Mr. Kapi stated.
To support candidates in their preparation, WAEC will expedite the release of chief examiners’ reports, which will offer insights into areas for improvement in study and exam techniques.
“We have promoted this program extensively via banners, our website, and our results checker platform, ensuring that both students and parents are informed,” Mr. Kapi added.
Students with canceled results are also eligible to take the WASSCE PC1 exams, as long as they have not faced long-term bans due to malpractice.
Initially, the exams will be held in regional capitals due to the limited number of participants. Prospective candidates are encouraged to register by January 8th to seize this opportunity.
WAEC is optimistic that this initiative will enable candidates to quickly boost their grades and avoid delays in their academic advancement, facilitating their eligibility for the next admission cycle.
