Tinubu: Nigeria Would Have Been Bankrupt Without Our Interventions
President Bola Tinubu has stated that Nigeria would have faced bankruptcy if not for the decisive actions his administration took upon assuming office. Speaking at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation of former National Assembly colleagues from the aborted Third Republic, Tinubu reflected on the economic challenges his government inherited.
“We faced serious headwinds when I took over, very challenging times. Nigeria would have been bankrupt if we had not taken the actions that we took, and we had to prevent the economy’s collapse,” he remarked.
The president acknowledged the support of Nigerians in navigating the crisis and highlighted the progress his administration has made in stabilizing the economy. He mentioned that the exchange rate is stabilizing and food prices are decreasing, especially during Ramadan, offering hope for a better economic future.
Tinubu also emphasized the importance of democracy as the key to economic, social, and political development, commending his former colleagues for their commitment to democratic ideals. He expressed gratitude for their belief in democracy, which has paved the way for his rise to office.
His comments come as his government continues to push forward with economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the nation’s finances and improving the overall economic environment.
