Tinubu Set to Commission Key Projects in FCT Satellite Towns – Wike

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to personally commission infrastructure projects in satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of events marking his second anniversary in office, according to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Wike made this announcement on Saturday during an inspection of ongoing developments across Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Bwari Area Councils. He emphasized that the President’s planned visits will reinforce his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

“At least one or two projects in the area councils will be commissioned by the President. He wants to connect directly with the people,” Wike said.

The Minister highlighted several projects nearing completion, including the 15km A2 road linking Kwali to Pai, which is already 85% complete with over 13km asphalted. He praised Tinubu’s vision for extending development beyond Abuja’s city centre to underserved communities.

In Gwagwalada, projects such as Market Road, Palace Road, and Radio House Road are also nearing completion. In Bwari, the dual carriageway in Ushafa—linking the War College and surrounding areas—is scheduled for completion before the President’s second anniversary.

Wike noted that the goal is to make it easier for people to live in the outskirts while commuting comfortably to the city, helping to bridge the urban-rural divide. He also commended the quality of work done by contractors and reiterated the government’s resolve to maintain high standards.

The projects are part of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at spurring economic growth, improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and raising the quality of life in rural and suburban parts of the FCT.
