“Tinubu’s Government Pushes AI Revolution To Power Nigeria’s Development”

According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology has urged Nigerians to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies as vital tools for driving national economic growth and sustainable development.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Esuabana Asanye, made the appeal at the Global Sustainable Technology and Innovation Community Conference held in Abuja. She noted that AI is already revolutionizing key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, energy, and governance, with the potential to optimize production, predict climate risks, boost efficiency, and create new opportunities across industries.

Mrs. Asanye emphasized that while AI can be used for both positive and negative purposes, Nigerians must make a deliberate choice to harness its benefits for the nation’s progress. Recalling how African scientists developed innovative solutions to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, she encouraged participants to apply insights gained from the conference toward advancing development and economic resilience.

She further called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to build a technologically advanced and resilient Nigeria capable of meeting future challenges.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, Senator Iya Abbas, reiterated that technology remains the cornerstone of any nation’s development. He urged Nigerians to adopt technological innovations to accelerate economic transformation, stressing that no country has achieved sustainable growth without leveraging science and technology.

Similarly, the Chairman of the House Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, Hon. Inuwa Garba, described technology as fundamental to human existence. He commended the conference for providing a platform where knowledge meets practical application, offering solutions to modern challenges.

The Director-General of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr. Olushola Odusanya, explained that the conference serves as an international platform to accelerate the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through technology and innovation. He noted that the event focuses on how AI and other technologies are shaping the future of work, education, and enterprise in Nigeria while promoting professional capacity-building and knowledge exchange.

Other speakers and dignitaries echoed similar sentiments, stressing that no nation can afford to ignore the global wave of technological transformation. They urged Nigeria to strategically position itself to benefit from the ongoing revolution shaping modern economies worldwide.
