To End Unemployment: Labour Minister Pushes For Critical Budget Hike

On January 20, 2025, Muhammad Dingyadi, the Minister of Labour and Employment, urged for an increased budget allocation for the ministry to enhance its ability to deliver on key objectives, particularly in employment creation. He emphasized that additional funding would be used to renovate,

reconstruct, and equip skills development centers nationwide, aiming to generate sustainable jobs.

Dingyadi noted that the current budget of N46 billion is insufficient to achieve these goals, highlighting the importance of skill development programs over temporary, unskilled jobs. Key committee leaders from both the Senate and House of Representatives supported the proposal, recognizing the significant role of skills development in tackling unemployment.
