Tompolo Donates N150 Million Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta.

As part of efforts to lessen the affects on the populace, the Tompolo Foundation yesterday provided relief supplies worth N150 million to those affected by the recent flood in the states of Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta.

The payment was made on the foundation’s behalf by High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, who also serves as its president and chairman.

Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Executive Secretary of the Tompolo Foundation, presented representatives from the various states with the supplies to be distributed to the flood victims.

Among the supplies sent are 2,400 bags of rice, 100 bags of beans, 200 bags of garri, 5,000 yam tubers, 200 gallons of palm oil, 600 gallons of groundnut oil, and 2,000 boxes of Indomie noodles.

According to Dr. Bebenimibo, the supplies will be used to help flood victims in Bomadi, Burutu, and Patani.

According to him, the victims in the nations of Isoko, Urhobo, and Ndokwa also received the Tompolo Foundation’s generous support.

Dr. Bebenimibo further said that those in need of the relief supplies included flood victims in Rivers State’s Ahaoda West and East.

The flood-affected residents of seven out of the state’s eight local government units will also receive 600 bags of rice and other supplies, he said.

Dr. Bebenimibo stated of the Tompolo Foundation: “We have been on this mission for almost 10 years. I am confident that the relief supplies would be handed to impacted folks by their representatives without being diverted. A similar deluge specifically arrived in 2012 at some point. The foundation gave the people palliatives. And this year, we returned to perform our beat.

Speaking on behalf of the governor of Bayelsa State, High Chief McDonald Igbadiwe, who represents Constituency 4 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to the Tompolo Foundation for its generosity in providing help to the state’s flood victims.

Igbadiwe emphasized that the recent flooding in the area is unusual and compared it to the situation in Pakistan.

In a conversation with reporters, the chairman of the Burutu Council, Hon. Godknows Angele, also commended Tompolo and the Tompolo Foundation for their contributions to the flood victims.

“This is what we expected some leaders to emulate. Today, Tompolo has come to the aid of the people,” he said noting that the communities in the area had been ravaged by the flood.

Similarly, the commissioner representing the Urhobo ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC board, Chief Vincent Oyibode in a chat with newsmen also commended the Tompolo Foundation for the good gesture saying, “he (Tompolo) is a good man.”
