Tragic News Strike As Nigerian Air Force Helicopter Crashes in Port Harcourt, All Onboard Survive with Minor Injuries
In an unfortunate incident on Friday, a helicopter owned by the Nigerian Air Force crashed in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. NAF spokesman Edward Gabkwet confirmed the incident in a statement released on the same day.
The helicopter, identified as NAF MI-35P, crashed at 7:45 a.m., shortly after taking off for an operation aimed at addressing economic sabotage in Rivers State. Gabkwet assured the public that all individuals on board the aircraft survived the crash and sustained only minor injuries.
According to the statement, the injured individuals are currently receiving medical attention at the NAF Medical Centre in Port Harcourt. Gabkwet further mentioned that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, is en route to Port Harcourt to assess the situation firsthand, ensure the well-being of the crew, and provide additional directives.
The incident underscores the inherent risks associated with military operations, even as the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to addressing challenges related to economic sabotage in the region. As investigations into the crash are likely underway, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and efficiency of military operations.
