Speaking at the Kogi Dialogue, an event marking Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s first year in office, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, likened the confluence of the two rivers to the strength and collaboration needed to overcome Nigeria’s challenges.

“The convergence of these rivers is not just a geographical event; it is a divine lesson in strength and continuity,” he said. “Just as merging waters become stronger, we as leaders and citizens must unite our efforts to build a prosperous Nigeria.”

Tinubu praised Governor Ododo for initiating the Kogi Dialogue, describing it as a step toward reconciliation and progress. He called on leaders nationwide to prioritize dialogue as a tool for resolving differences and promoting national unity.

“Dialogue is not just a means to express grievances; it is the true path to justice, reconciliation, and understanding. Without it, history will pass us by, leaving us behind,” Tinubu added.

The President urged leaders to reject division and embrace unity, stating, “Chaos benefits the self-serving, but unity is the bridge that carries us all forward. Kogi State is a testament to what we can achieve when we harness our diversity. From the confluence of rivers to the convergence of ideas, Kogi symbolizes the potential of a united Nigeria.”

Acknowledging current challenges such as economic pressures and security threats, Tinubu emphasized that true leadership is tested in turbulent times. He urged Nigerians to see themselves as essential contributors to the nation’s progress.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the people of Kogi State for their support over the past year. He highlighted achievements such as upgrading healthcare facilities, improving educational infrastructure, introducing free basic education, and providing bursaries for tertiary students.

Ododo also called on Kogi’s citizens to prioritize the state’s development by leveraging its rich human and natural resources.

National APC Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commended the strong relationship between the current and former governors of Kogi State, urging other leaders to emulate this example for effective governance.
