Veteran Nigerian Actor Goes Blind, Cries For Help (PHOTO)

Shuaibu, also known by his stage name Karkuzu, shared a video on social media where he appealed for help, explaining that he has been battling illness since December 2020.

Karkuzu first entered the Hausa entertainment scene in the 1980s with his popular drama “Karkuzu na Bodara,” which earned him his nickname.

In an exclusive conversation with Daily Trust following the video’s circulation, Karkuzu expressed his dire situation, “I am currently blind as I talk to you. I am in urgent need of financial assistance. I am struggling to find food for myself and my family.”

He went on to mention that the house he resides in is up for sale, and if it’s sold, he will have nowhere to go. He implored compassionate Nigerians to step forward and help him secure his current residence.

Regarding his blindness, he shared, “I have undergone two surgeries, but the doctors have determined it to be glaucoma, stating that I will never regain my sight. I have come to terms with this as my fate. However, I plead with Nigerians to kindly assist me. If they could secure this house for me and provide some food, I would be truly grateful.”

Within the Kannywood industry, there are numerous associations and guilds. However, there have been allegations that many actors are left without support when they fall ill and are in need of assistance.
