Victory For APC: Ishaku Wins Bwari Chairmanship

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election held on February 21, 2026. According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made on Sunday in Bwari by the Returning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, who confirmed Ishaku’s victory.

Prof. Nurudeen revealed that Ishaku secured a total of 18,466 votes, satisfying all legal requirements to be declared the elected chairmanship candidate. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate trailed with 4,254 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate came third with 3,515 votes.

The election, conducted across ten wards in the Bwari Area Council—including Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari Central, and Kawu—saw results collated before the formal announcement of the winner. According to Ireporter Online, the process was carried out in accordance with electoral guidelines, culminating in Ishaku’s decisive victory.
