The United Kingdom Immigration Department has yet to comment on the alleged harassment and detention of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate (LP).

The Obi-Datti media office said on Wednesday that the LP presidential candidate arrived at Heathrow Airport in London on April 7 and was detained after being approached by an immigration officer who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside.

Obi was detained for an alleged duplication offense, according to the LP media office, implying that he had an impersonator in the country.

According to the LP, Obi was questioned for a long time, which was unusual for a man who had lived in the UK for over a decade.

According to the Obi-Datti media office, it took the intervention of Nigerians who quickly raised their voices, questioning why Obi was being delayed.

According to a UK immigration press officer who spoke with TheCable, the agency cannot comment on individual cases but will provide additional information in due time.
