Wike Can Back Any Candidate He Chooses – Morka
According to Ireporter Online, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has affirmed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is entitled to support any candidate of his choice.
Morka made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, responding to the recent decision by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidates in AMAC and Bwari Area Councils to step down for their APC rivals in the FCT Area Council election.
He emphasized that as a Nigerian citizen, Wike enjoys constitutional protection to express support for any individual. “If Nyesom Wike wants to go on campaigning for any candidate in any party whatsoever, he has the inherent liberty to do so,” Morka stated.
He added, “Wike is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who also has freedom guaranteed by the constitution. He has the right to support any candidate he wants. He has that freedom to engage, freedom to participate in our democracy and to hold his own opinion and to express the same and take lawful action to back his opinion. It’s not about Wike’s relationship with the APC but about his views and perspective of what he believes and what he, as a citizen, has the right to do.”
