Woman Arrested For Allegedly Killing 8-Month-Old Daughter With Rat Poison

A 30-year-old woman, Mercy Michael, has been remanded in a correctional facility by a chief magistrate’s court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly killing her 8-month-old daughter with rat poison…READ MORE…

According to the prosecutor, Mr Marcus Audu, the defendant fed her daughter rat poison on December 10, and the baby was rushed to the General Hospital, Zonkwa, but died the following day. The case was reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) and is being investigated.

The presiding judge, Mr Samson Kwasu, did not take the plea of the accused due to lack of jurisdiction and directed the prosecutor to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. The case has been adjourned until December 17 for further mention.
