Fuel Price Hike: Another Protest Hit Edo Captial, Benin City As Gov, Godwin Obaseki Turns A Blind Eye (Photos/Video)
Another protest hit Edo capital, Benin city hours after a previous protest on matters involving fuel hikes and bad governance in the state
Angry Edo residents have taken their frustration to the streets of Benin city in areas such as Sapale Road, Siluko Road, and Textile Mill Road over the continuous increase in the price of petrol in the state.
A peaceful protest which was held yesterday was directed to the state government to regulate the different prices of petrol in the state. Although as usual, the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki yet again turns a blind eye to the problem of the masses he promised to be responsive and accountable to their needs. CONTINUE READING
It is not the first time nor the last, two-term seating Governor has shown high level of “I Don’t Care” attitude towards the people he governs.
Reports say the price of petrol would continue to rise until the scarcity is over, which has led to a drastic increase in the price of transport fare in the state and as well will Edo residents keep protesting until the so-called leaders put in office to govern them come to their aides.
The purpose of the protest is for Godwin Obaseki to set up a special committee to address the issue of excessive petrol prices in the state. Petrol is sold for N700/ Litre at filling stations and 1400/ Litre at black markets.
Failure of the PDP Governor to address the fuel hike in the state will simply imply that rumors of PDP sabotaging APC on matters involving fuel scarcity are true.
