Pastor On 40 Days Fast Dies
A Mozambican pastor who wanted to walk in Jesus’ footsteps died after attempting to fast for 40 days and 40 nights.
Francisco Barajah, the cleric, founded the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in Mozambique.
After 25 days, Barajah was said to have lost so much weight that he couldn’t stand up.
The 39-year-old was rushed to a hospital in Beira, where he was diagnosed with acute anemia and digestive organ failure.
However, efforts to rehydrate Barajah with serums and the introduction of liquid foods were unsuccessful, as he died.
Members of the Santa Trindade Church said the Pastor and his followers fasted frequently, but not for that long.
However, the pastor’s brother, Marques Manuel Barajah, contested the medical diagnosis of his death.
He argued his “brother suffered from low blood pressure.”
