Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor was born on March 23, 1973 in Igueben LGA, Edo State, and is presently the managing director and chief executive officer of Rigo Microfinance Bank Limited, a bank he created in May 2018.

He graduated with distinction in accounting with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from Auchi Polytechnic in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and possesses an MBA in Management from Delta State University in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria. He became a chartered accountant in November 1999.

He is also a Certified Microfinance Expert, a certification granted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He is an ardent learner and alumnus of the prestigious New York University (NYU) Stern Executive Education, where he took the Breakthrough Strategic Thinking course.

He also attended the Leadership Essentials Executive Education programme at Columbia University Graduate Management School in New York. He has also taken Leadership courses at the Lagos Business School (LBS) and Credit/International Banking courses at the SBI Academy in India.

He made a successful career in corporate Nigeria after leading an amazing academic path and having twenty-five (25) years of unbroken experience in the banking industry.

Adolphus was a highly regarded and award-winning executive with Sterling Bank Plc before he founded RIGO MFB. He held a number of positions there, including Group Head, New Business. In order to build the skill sets of the business owners in the Education and Health sectors and apply a knowledge-based approach to them, he was in charge of selecting, nurturing, and expanding enterprises in these industries.

In this job, he delivered remarkable outcomes; one notable achievement in the education business sector was when he led other participating banks in the delivery of AfDB syndicated lending to a major university in Nigeria, positively benefiting the institution’s brand and growth. Based on his achievements, he was briefly appointed as the Bank’s Chief Strategist as a relief to the incumbent in charge of Corporate Strategy, Investor Relations, and Research and Development.

Additional positions he held at Sterling Bank Plc include Regional Business Head (RBH), Commercial & Institutional Banking in South-South, based in Port Harcourt; and Business Manager, Port Harcourt main branch.

Adolphus began his banking career with UBA Plc in 1999 as a Branch Operations Officer, eventually rising to the position of Head of Operations when he joined NNB International Bank Plc. He also had sales positions with First Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, and Universal Trust Bank Plc. Following that, he joined Equatorial Trust Bank Limited, which later merged with Sterling Bank Plc.

Adolphus, who is passionate about community development, has been active in a variety of philanthropic activities across the country.

Keep Port Harcourt Clean, Keep Lagos Island Clean, Keep Ibeju-Lekki Clean, Free Health Services for Ibeju-Lekki Women, and Payment of Teachers’ Salary at St. John Boscos College, Ubiaja are among the notable projects.

He has sponsored countless poor children through the Atupele Arumhen Edaghese Foundation by offering WAEC scholarships to students in Esan Southeast LGA and paying penalty fees to WAEC for Illushi secondary school pupils to allow them to pass the WAEC examinations.

He has also helped various orphanages and correctional facilities, with a special focus on the rehabilitation of the Nigeria Prisons prayer centre in Degema, Rivers state, as well as support for prisoners in other prisons across the country.
