How Housekeeper Killed Nigerian Lecturer With Pestle After Argument Over Rice
Chima Anolue, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, found himself in a situation he did not expect when he got into an argument with his domestic worker on Friday night.
According to reports, Anolue, who taught at the Psychology Department in the Faculty of Social Sciences, scolded his domestic worker for letting the rice he was cooking burn, unaware that this incident would lead to his untimely death.
Angered by the disrespectful behavior of his employee, Anolue allegedly slapped the domestic worker, which resulted in a physical altercation between them.
Initially, the suspect denied killing his employer but later confessed to the crime after being subjected to torture by local vigilante guards.
In a viral video confession, the suspect explained, “When he (his master) came back, he told me to cook rice. And as I was cooking the rice, he asked me why I did not wash the plates. I did not reply. He then asked why I wasn’t responding to his question. In the process, he slapped me. But I told him I usually have ear problems, and that people don’t slap me. As I was saying that, he angrily asked if I was still talking while he was talking. And therefore, he slapped me again and brought out a cane and started flogging me all over. Then, in the process, I got angry, and we started fighting. It was also during that fight that I picked up the pestle in the kitchen and hit him on the head.”
The suspect was taken to a hospital where Anolue was rushed after the attack. In a video, the suspect, with his hands tied behind his back, stood in front of the lifeless body of his employer lying on a hospital bed. Anolue’s head was wrapped in a bandage, indicating that he had bled heavily while fighting for his life.
Later, the suspect was taken away by the guards who threatened him. In the video, a man aimed a rifle at him and threatened to pull the trigger, causing the suspect to plead, “Daddy, please don’t kill me.”
