One Killed As Troops Raid Suspected IPOB Camps, Arrest Nine In Anambra (PHOTOS)

On Monday, the Nigerian Army reported that troops of 302 Regiment operating under 82 Division conducted a successful operation to destroy camps belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network.

The joint operation involved the Anambra Vigilante Group and took place in Oroma and Umuewelum Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.

The raid was part of the ongoing clearance operations aimed at maintaining peace and security in the South-East region of Nigeria.

The troops raided the identified camps on Sunday to curb the illicit activities of the fighters in those communities.

During the operation, the troops recovered one AK 47 Rifle, one AKMS Rifle, three Lexus SUVs, and two Motorcycles. Additionally, eight brigands were arrested during the operation.

In a separate operation at Mmiata Anam in Anambra South, the troops also raided an IPOB camp, resulting in the neutralization of one IPOB fighter, while another was captured alive. One AK 47 Rifle, one Dane gun, and police uniforms were recovered during this encounter.

The Nigerian Army called on all law-abiding citizens and the people of the South-East to continue supporting and cooperating with the troops and other security agencies in their efforts to bring an end to insecurity in the region.
