Yakubu Bugai played a vital role in the Birnin-Gwari Orphans Foundation, which was dedicated to providing care and support to thousands of orphans left behind by the victims of armed banditry in the area.

BEPU also highlighted a series of other disturbing incidents in the Local Government, such as abductions and kidnappings of innocent farmers. For instance, there were incidents on Friday 21/7/2023, Tuesday 25/7/2023, Wednesday 26/7/2023, and Thursday 27/7/2023, where several people were kidnapped, and some were killed by the bandits in various locations within the region.

The continuous attacks on farmers have made around 70% of farmlands inaccessible, seriously jeopardizing this year’s farming outputs. In light of this, BEPU made an appeal to the Federal Government to establish military detachments in Katakaki, Gagumi, Tashar-Keji, and Bugai axis in the Western part of Birnin-Gwari to address the security challenges.

When contacted, the State Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, stated that he couldn’t confirm or deny the report. Similarly, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, was unresponsive to calls and messages as of the time of reporting on the incident.
