BREAKING: Top Nigerian Politician Dropped As Nominee For Screening After Making List (PHOTO AND DETAILS)

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has excluded Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Ngoshe from the list of commissioner-nominees initially submitted to the State House of Assembly for screening.

The governor transmitted the revised list, now with 17 nominees instead of 18, to the lawmakers on Friday. The decision to drop Ngoshe’s name was communicated to the state lawmakers, as revealed by Zulum’s spokesperson, Mallam Isa Gusau, in a statement on Saturday.

Ngoshe, hailing from the Southern Borno senatorial district of Gwoza local government area, had previously contested for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Gwoza State Constituency but did not succeed.

The statement did not explicitly mention the reason for the withdrawal of Ngoshe’s nomination. However, it remains uncertain whether his ongoing case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) played a role in the governor’s decision.

Back in March, the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the EFCC had arraigned Ngoshe before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation amounting to N24,000,000.00 (Twenty-Four Million Naira). The charge stated that he allegedly diverted revenue generated by Mairi Islamic Senior Secondary School, where he served as the Principal, for the establishment of another school named Sheik Abba Aji Memorial Integrated School at Mairi Kuwait. The diverted funds were intended for staff salaries, additional structures, and other physical projects for the original school.

Ngoshe pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, and the case was adjourned until May, with the judge remanding him during the proceedings.
