Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Site In Delta
Operation Delta Safe troops have successfully dismantled an illicit refinery site in the general vicinity of Ogbokoko and Atu within the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
This achievement resulted from the troops’ efforts against oil theft activities in the South-South region on August 23, 2023.
As stated in a press release issued on Thursday by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the troops engaged in the operation destroyed eight operational furnaces used for the illicit processing of stolen crude oil.

Furthermore, they incapacitated 14 storage tanks holding purloined crude oil, with an estimated volume of 200,000 liters, as well as 90,000 liters of locally refined automotive gas oil.
Upon the approach of the troops, the oil thieves fled the scene, resulting in the destruction of the illegal refining site according to the established protocols of Operation Delta Safe. The military authorities are actively conducting an investigation to apprehend the evading criminals.
The statement stressed that the elimination of the illegal refinery site was executed on-site, in line with the prescribed Operation Delta Safe protocols. The military continues to pursue the fleeing criminals and encourages the public to promptly report any suspicions of sabotage or criminal activities to the relevant security agencies.
