Akpata Steps Aside From Law Firm, Gives Reason
Olumide Akpata, the Immediate-past President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has made the decision to step aside from Templars, a prominent law firm where he held the position of Senior Partner.
In an announcement dated August 24, 2023, the law firm conveyed that the former NBA President officially communicated his intention to engage in active politics. In accordance with the firm’s governance protocols, a mutual agreement was reached for him to temporarily withdraw from the firm’s activities, effective from Thursday, August 31, 2023.

This step has been taken to allow him to fully concentrate on his commitment to nation-building through his political endeavors.
It is noteworthy that Akpata recently affiliated himself with the Labour Party in Edo State and has expressed his intent to participate in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The firm expressed its appreciation to Akpata for the substantial role he played in the firm’s advancement. It assured clients that their legal needs will continue to be met by a team of over 100 lawyers led by twenty other partners across various practice areas. These professionals will operate from the firm’s offices in Nigeria and Ghana.
