JUST IN: ‘Obidients’ Shed Fresh Tears As Tribunal Sacks Labour Party House Of Reps Member (DETAILS)

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, seated in Enugu State, issued a verdict on Friday, invalidating the election victory of Prof Sunday Nnamchi, the Labour Party’s candidate, for the House of Representatives position in Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Enugu State.

In response to the petition brought forth by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Prince Cornelius Nnaji, the panel of three justices, presided over by A. M. Abubakar, declared Prince Nnaji as the legitimate victor of the election held on February 25, 2023.

Prince Nnaji, a one-term federal legislator, contested the declaration of Prof Nnamchi as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), asserting that the respondent was not appropriately sponsored and eligible to run for the election under the Labour Party’s banner.

The tribunal, in a unanimous decision, concurred with the petitioner’s argument that the Labour Party candidate was not qualified to partake in the election.
