BREAKING: Tinubu Gives Abiola’s Son Appointment (DETAILS)
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola, the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, as Special Assistant (SA) on Special Duties.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter sent by the President to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) before his departure for the United Nations summit in New York.
Jamiu Abiola, a graduate of New York University in the United States, has been assigned by the President to the office of Vice President Kassim Shetimma to assist in achieving the pledges made to Nigerians during the 2023 presidential election.

The appointment is seen as a tribute to the late Abiola’s achievements and renowned philanthropy both in Nigeria and abroad.
The letter, seen by THISDAY, reads, “I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved your appointment as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties (Office of the Vice-President).”
Jamiu Abiola, who is multilingual, also holds postgraduate certificates from New York University with a specialization in translating Arabic, French, Spanish, and German languages into English.
In addition to these languages, Abiola is proficient in French, Portuguese, Yoruba, Hausa, Japanese, Igbo, Fulani, and Kanuri.
Since 2015, he has been engaged by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as a freelance translator for documents from French into English and to draft summary reports during conferences and council sessions.
He also translates over 50,000 words monthly for the world’s largest translations agency, specializing in technical, financial, and patent translations following intensive testing.
Abiola serves as the Director of Statutory Compliance and Indigenous Growth at Pilgrims Africa, a global security company with over 3,000 employees and offices in over 20 countries.
He also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of NNPC mega station, a business he has managed for over a decade, guiding it to achieve approximately N3 billion in annual sales.
